WZ Ranch is a family owned and operated equestrian boarding and event facility accommodating the traveling horseman.

Finding a site that can provide peace of mind and a restful stay for the traveling horseman while recovering from a long day of trailering is especially difficult and thus WZ Ranch was born. Located just off I-25 between Colorado Springs and Denver we offer a quick, easy location to stop and stay awhile. Your horses will have a comfortable place to stretch out and spend the night. With the Spruce Meadows and Greenland Open Space equestrian trailheads a mere 4 miles away, WZ Ranch offers a base for days of relaxing trail riding for both you and your horses. Or you can stay at the ranch and utilize our 40 acres of grassland, an over-sized indoor riding arena, large round pen and clean, expansive stalls and paddocks.

Our Story

Tom, Phyllis, and their 5 daughters, participated in equine activities over the past 40 years with a special interest in following the military rodeo circuit. The joy of following and supporting rodeo athletes in Tom’s active-duty Marine Corps unit sparked a lifelong dream of becoming active members of the equine community. Settling on the Palmer Divide in Colorado in 2015, they opened WZ Ranch to fulfill that dream, to create the perfect equestrian overnight and event facility. Since opening the ranch, Tom and Phyllis love tending the ranch and quiet trail rides.

The story behind the WZ name comes from two generations of Marine aviators, Tom and his son-in-law Carl. Tom retired from active duty piloting the AH-1 “W” Cobra Attack helicopter and Carl is an active duty Marine Aviator piloting the AH-1 “Z” Cobra setting the basis for the WZ Brand.
